Taking out a larger sailing vessel (either rented or owned) by yourself (solo) or with your family and friends is a big step for every green captain. Even if you have some, or even significant experience in smaller boats or dinghies, big lakes or the sea and ocean are beasts of a different kind.
Larger boats present a far greater variety and complexity in their rigging solutions. The forces involved are often no longer manageable without the assistance of winches, and in case of damages, repairs can take a long time to fix, with costs being very high. So it’s understandable that many ambitious sailors get cold feet when it comes time to finally book that charter boat in Greece for a week or take your recently purchased yacht out on the open waters or in tougher conditions.
It can be very challenging to spend a significant amount of time on board a sizable sailing yacht under sail. And actually getting the chance to gain experience with the maneuvers and procedures that you wish to learn the most is even harder. That’s why we started Sea Wolves.Starting in September, Sailing Vessel The Spirit of Amsterdam and its captain, Florian Rooz, sail every weekend, either on the Markermeer or the North Sea, providing a platform for aspiring sailors to gain the miles and experiences needed to truly gain confidence in their sailing.
rJoin A single clinic of for a fixed monthly fee, you will sail once every weekend (four times a month), either on Saturday or Sunday, while receiving coaching in all the various conditions that the Dutch winter provides, from sunny days to epic storms. Sea Wolves will build your sailing confidence like nothing else!
We are open to complete beginners but also to more experienced sailors who wish to increase their skills and confidence.

About Florian Rooz
Florian Rooz is an internationally well-known sailor with over 20.000 miles under his keel.
He is most well known in the sailing world for his presenting of the Sea Wolves TV report during the 2020 (pandemic) Vendeeglobe around the world race, which became a viral daily sailing show with over 40.000 viewers per day and is currently a well respected commentator in the sailing technology world, mostly in the Imoca, v65 and Sail GP classes.
He is also a veteran of the Ocean Race 2021 (Leg 6 onboard V65 Childhood) and an experienced super-yacht charter captain in the south of Asia (Indian ocean) and Dutch waters.
